What is your full name and date of birth? Where were you born? My full name is Kylie Jayde Jarrett and I was born on October 13, 1991 in West Pownal, Maine.
How well do you get along with your parents? My only real parental figure I have is my older half sister who found me in the foster care system last year and took me into her home. My mom died when I was only five years old and my dad lost custody of me and my brother AJ when we were 9 and 10.
Tell us a little bit about your childhood. Are there any specific memories that are significant to you? Do you have any siblings? If so, how do you get along with them? One memory that definitely stands out is the day that my dad lost custody of me and my younger brother. I'll never forget the day when I saw him for the last time. I have a brother and an older half-sister. My sister and I get along well, but I can't say much about my relationship with AJ since I haven't seen him in years. I do remember, however, that AJ and I were very close until we were put in different foster homes after being in the system for a year or so.
Have you lived in Westbrook your entire life? If not, tell us about the other places you have lived. Actually no I was born about 2 hours from here and lived there until I was 10 after that I was all over the state before my sister found me and I lived with her about a year until she took a job here and we moved here a week or so ago.
What qualities do you look for in a friend? In a significant other? It's hard for me to make true friends since people tend to look down their noses on people who've been in the foster care system. That's what I look for in people, to be honest. I don't try to get attached, but I don't want people to not like me because of my past. What grade are you in? Do you enjoy school? I’ll be a senior when School starts back and I like school pretty well I guess.
What is your favorite/least favorite class and why? Favorite: PE because I like finding a way to escape from sitting at a desk all day and not being able to release my built up energy. Least Favorite: math class because the formulas they use just don't make sense to me.
What's your favorite guilty indulgence? reality shows
If you could have dinner with anyone in all of history, who would it be, and why? Nadia Comaneci because she was the first woman to get a perfect 10 in gymnastics at the Olympics. Do you have any lifelong goals? Dreams? I would love to eventually be on the US gymnastics olympic team, not for the sake of medaling, but just to say I actually did it.
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up? I think I always just wanted to be a gymnast. I never saw me as anything other than that. Gymnastics has been apart of my life for so long that I can't picture being without it.
How do you handle confrontations? I take the bull by the horns and deal with it. There's so many petty things in life that people fight over, and it's really ridiculous. Describe a defining moment in your life. A defining moment in my life would definitely have to be the day when my mom died. I may have only been 5 years old, but I remember it very well. It's the day that everything changed for me and for AJ.
What is good and what is evil? Gymnastics is good, but injuries are evil.
The world will end tomorrow. What do you do today? I honestly don't know how I'd spend it. But I don't think that anyone really knows when the world will end, to be honest.
Is there any truth to the saying: keep your friends close, and your enemies closer? Do you have enemies? Do you have more friends than enemies? I agree with that statement. You have to keep an eye on your enemies and know what they're doing. I'm positive I have both friends and enemies.
What do you think are your best qualities? And your worst? My best quality is that I don't look down upon people. I know what it's like to go through hell and back, so I don't tend to judge others. My worst quality is that I'm a perfectionist. Everything just has to be a certain way with me.
Who has had the most influence on your life? I'd have to go with my half-sister. Taking me in like she did and basically becoming my mom must've taken a lot of nerve and a lot of guts.
Does heartache make you stronger? I think it does. They say the things that don't kill us are the ones that make us stronger, and I bet that would include heartache.
Describe the best 24 hours you ever had. It would have to be the day that I was finally reunited with my sister and she invited me to be apart of her life.
What is the biggest lie you ever told? What were the consequences? Biggest lie I ever told wasn't really telling a lie, it was more like doing something I shouldn't have. I forged my foster mom's signature on something for school, and I got detention for it.
What is the scariest thing that has ever happened to you? That would have to be when my mother died. My life completely changed, and I was afraid about what would happen next.
What is your most treasured possession and why? My most treasured possession is my mother's wedding band. I never wear it, but I keep it in a special jewelry box in my room.
What is your favorite time of day? Why? I'm definitely a night owl. I'm usually practicing during the day.
In the event of a zombie apocalypse, what would you do? I'd go out there and defend myself.
